Mille Lacs Kathio State Park - August 8-10, 2014

We went to Mille Lacs Kathio State Park for the weekend. We stayed in our favorite site #40 which is private and has lots of space. It was hot so we did a little swimming (they have a swimming pond which isn't the greatest place to swim but it was busy). The campground is located next to the Rum river and you can rent canoes and kayaks. It's also just down the road from Mille Lacs Lake. The main roads are all tarred so there is quite a bit of biking you can do between the 2 campgrounds, picnic/swim area and the entrance/store. There are 2 campgrounds - the Petaga campground has electric sites and the Ogechie campground is all non electric (they also do not have a shower house or flush toilets). There is quite a bit of hiking along the river and in the woods as well. The sites in Petaga are fairly large and private.

Gull Lake Corp of Engineer Park (Brainerd, MN) July 28 - August 2, 2014

We decided to spend a week relaxing in Minnesota this year for our summer vacation. We headed up to the Gull Lake Corp of Engineer park. The sites are large and very long and the park is quiet yet close to everything.

The town of Nisswa is a cute little tourist area with shops, restaurants and one of the bike trail stops for the Paul Bunyan trail.

There is a ton of golf around if you are into that. We golfed Madden's which has 4 courses and they are all very nice.

The Gull Lake COE provides rakes and shovels - this is really nice in the fall when there are alot of leaves around.
