Fort Ridgely State Park May 13 - 16, 2010

Fort Ridgely State Park is located in Southern Minnesota about 6 miles south of Fairfax. It's a very small park with only about 35 sites. They have 2 campgrounds - 1 doesn't have any electric sites and for some reason 6 of the sites were blocked off and the bathrooms were closed. The only flush toilets are located across a bridge and up stairs from the campground. The campground with electric is one long road of sites.

There is a golf course owned by the state park and if you stay 3 nights you get a free days worth of golf. It's a very hilly course and there are dandelions and mushrooms growing around it, but it's not bad. They don't allow any riding carts so you need to walk it and it's a long course. A good workout.

There is a historical site that is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. You can go in the building for a small fee. They also have posts all around the site that you can read on your own.

They have a horse camp with 25 sites and this is also where the dump station is. It's about 2 miles from the campground and the dump station is on a hill.
