June 26-28, 2015 Flandrau State Park

We went to Flandrau State Park with another couple for the weekend. They stayed in a camping cabin and we reserved the pull through site closest to the cabins. This turned out to be a very nice site. Easy to get into, very private and sun or shade whichever you preferred.

We hiked over to Schell Brewery through the park. It's a little under 2 miles one way and is a nice hike along the river. You come out right at the Brewery and don't have to worry about driving back after the taste testing! :)

Cross Lake COE June 5-7, 2015

We went to Cross Lake COE park for the weekend. This park is on Cross Lake, right across from town so you can walk over to shop, eat, etc. There are bike lanes on the roads and a bike trail along part of the road next to the campground. We went for a bike ride on Friday since it was beautiful. On Saturday it was cloudy and rained/misted off an on. We got in a boat ride on Pelican Lake where friends have a permanent trailer. We saw the baby fawn below.

Sibley State Park - Memorial Weekend 2015

May 22-25, 2015

We went to Sibley State Park for Memorial weekend which is just outside the city of New London, Minnesota. There are two campgrounds here. Lakeside is considered the more social campground. It's close to Lake Andrew and the sites are pretty close together. We noticed alot more big campers and not sure if that's the trend of if this campground just attracts the bigger rigs. It's strange because the sites aren't that big and the roads in the campground are pretty narrow with alot of trees. We saw a few people having difficulty getting into their site. We had site #1. When I booked, all of the sites we like were booked and this site is a pull through across the road from the camphosts. We weren't sure how private it would be, but it ended up being a really nice site with lots of space.

The other campground at Sibley (Oakwood) is all non-electric. It used to almost all be out in the open, but the trees have grown in and there are some very nice large sites, but no electricity.

There is also a group camp, a horse camp, swimming beach, a couple piers to fish from as well as quite a bit of hiking including the most popular hike to Mount Tom.

Heading home - May 16, 2015

May 16, 2015

Our flight out of Munich was scheduled for 3:30pm so we decided to go to the English Garden for a while since it was going to be a beautiful day out. There were alot of people walking dogs, jogging and just enjoying the park. We watched the surfers for a while and the beer garden was getting all set up for the day.
