Sibley State Park - Memorial Weekend 2015

May 22-25, 2015

We went to Sibley State Park for Memorial weekend which is just outside the city of New London, Minnesota. There are two campgrounds here. Lakeside is considered the more social campground. It's close to Lake Andrew and the sites are pretty close together. We noticed alot more big campers and not sure if that's the trend of if this campground just attracts the bigger rigs. It's strange because the sites aren't that big and the roads in the campground are pretty narrow with alot of trees. We saw a few people having difficulty getting into their site. We had site #1. When I booked, all of the sites we like were booked and this site is a pull through across the road from the camphosts. We weren't sure how private it would be, but it ended up being a really nice site with lots of space.

The other campground at Sibley (Oakwood) is all non-electric. It used to almost all be out in the open, but the trees have grown in and there are some very nice large sites, but no electricity.

There is also a group camp, a horse camp, swimming beach, a couple piers to fish from as well as quite a bit of hiking including the most popular hike to Mount Tom.

Heading home - May 16, 2015

May 16, 2015

Our flight out of Munich was scheduled for 3:30pm so we decided to go to the English Garden for a while since it was going to be a beautiful day out. There were alot of people walking dogs, jogging and just enjoying the park. We watched the surfers for a while and the beer garden was getting all set up for the day.

Munich, Germany - May 15, 2015

Today it was going to be a rainy day so we decided to go down to the Marienplatz and see the Glockenspiel and go to the markets and then have lunch at the Hofbrau Haus.

Garmisch to Munich, Germany - May 14, 2015

May 14, 2015

We drove from Garmisch to Munich today. Wanted to stop at Aldi for breakfast pastries, but all of the shops were closed. Found out later it was Father's Day in Germany. We checked into our hotel (Courtyard Marriott Munich East) and then drove to Dachau Concentration Camp. We spent 4 hours here.

We then drove downtown to the Hofbrau Haus for dinner. Brad and the girls got the chicken and I had pork. Brad, Sam and I had beer and Sam got a dumpling cake for dessert and Brad had their apple strudel. I got a giant pretzel. All yummy! We listened to the oompahpah band and I bought a Hofbrau Haus t-shirt.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany - May 13, 2015

May 13, 2015
We drove to Linderhoff Palace today. It's the smallest of King Ludwigs castles, but it was one of the only ones that was completely finished inside. Beautiful gardens and beautiful day.

area just inside Linderhoff castle grounds to buy tickets, souvenirs, etc.

We then drove over the alps to see Neuschwanstein castle. This is the castle that DisneyWorlds magic kingdom is modeled after.

beautiful drive from Linderhoff Castle to Fussen, Germany

We then went to Fussen and did a little shopping, ate some ice cream and tried dunkles (pie crust like dough all stuck together in a ball with different flavors).

We drove back to Garmisch and walked around the town and picked up pizza from Pizza Hut (2 for 1 deal :)
